Laurie's Interior Design

Laurie has found many ways to add space and storage to the boat

Teak Doors

In port, doors make living aboard much simpler.

Cabinets on starboard side

This was virtually wasted space that can now be put to good use.

Cabinet and Dresser

The cabinet sliders are all smoked plastic. The drawers in the dresser were replaced with piano hinged shelves.

Portside bulkhead shelves

Laurie will have no trouble finding those things you want close by first thing in the morning.

Overhead book shelf

We are both avid readers and want to take some prized books along on our journeys.

Tambour Door

There is a computer behind the doors. Don't ask what it takes to get it in there.

Starboard side cabinet

This cabinet stores the wireless keyboard, the hard-wired printer and miscellaneous accessories.

Portside cabinet

This cabinet stores our binoculars, various handheld radios and GPS units.

Wine cellar

Even in warm water this area should stay relatively cool. We will wrap the bottles so they do not rattle around.

New fuel tank

This tank takes the place of the orignal water tank in this space. We added another small water tank on the center line in the bilge trunk. We only lost 13 gallons in water capacity.

Aft bathroom tambour doors

We are not ashamed - we stole this idea and others from several Catalina 42 owners.

Aft cabin cabinet

Laurie now has a linen cabinet.

Aft cabin shelves

We gained alot of space with shelving versus the original drawers.

Aft cabin portside storage

This was Laurie's idea. She plans to use this for bulk food storage.

Aft cabin seaberth

This is my idea. We will be cruising and felt storage and a true seaberth were more important than a guest cabin. The space on the other side will come in real handy.

Boat hooks, charts, and stuff...

There is a shallow void in the aft cabin that we are able to use since we built the sea bearth.

Galley cabinet

This space is now much more usable. The cutting board on the stove gives additional counter space.

Galley cubby hole

We removed the bottom tray from the door and had a new storage space added in the void between the cabinet wall and hull.

Galley can bin

This is the space beneath the stove. We had it enlarged and put a latched door on. Now Laurie can store her cans down low.
