: Has anyone installed a diesel generator (6-KW +) in a 42' 3-cabin model. Linda and I would like to have one installed to run our A/C (and curling iron..etc.) needs in our 1999 model. The lazerette does not appear to be an option, due to space and/or service requirements that may crop up. We have been informed that we may have to convert one of the aft staterooms to accomodate a generator.
: Also, has anyone installed an auxillary tank forward of the private shower. I am concerned with adding so much weight to the stern, which is already heavy from the A/C units and a dinghy.
: Any ideas would be appreciated.
: Thanks

We have hull #660, a 3 cabin model. We have a 4kw Panda generator in the aft lazarette on the port side. The dealer installed it. They cut a hole through the aft port cabin wall into the lazarette and built a mount to hold the generator in the space. They installed the generator by moving it through that cabin. After it was installed, the panel screws back in and is held in place with teak trim...therefore the cabin is not disrupted. It works great. The 4kw will only run one of the ACs at a time but that has proved to be acceptable. We are in NC and use our AC for both cooling and heat, depending upon the season. The only problem is that it is a tight fit to squeeze dwon into the lazarette to do maintenance. You can also remove the wall and access it that way. Good luck. Dan Brock
