I had delivered my old bent rudder to the factory to have a new one placed on the old shaft. They did cut off the old one and built a new one on the old shaft. When I came to pick it up I was waiting to load it up and Mr. Douglas walked out to review the new rudder. He called the parts team over and although I was a ways away I could see he was not approving of something on the newly built rudder. Robert Butler (Franks Son) then came over and told me that Jerry had found a flaw in my old stainless shaft after they had rebuilt the new one on it. He said it could prove dangerous and would be replaced with a new one in about two weeks. I told him that I had waited two weeks for this one and was needing to be launched that week. He talked with someone on the phone and they pulled another one off a newly built C42 and gave it to me right then with a appology for any hassle. I have had to have some things custom made in my refitting my boat and have experienced only excellence in customer service. I have owned my boat for almost 5 years taken it to Mexico and back and whenever I have needed anything Catalina has always accomidated me on everything. I couldn't recommend a better company. Perhaps you could stop by and meet these guys and you'll see they are a lot like you and me and just want to get the job done. We are out of Morro Bay and have experience multiple knock downs off Point Conception over the years, been in gails to 56 knots with seas to 20 feet and you should know this is a great boat.
